[resolved] can't create account

I tried creating an account, but I never get sent the verification email, so my account isn’t validated and I can’t log in. Apparently, the account information is stored, because I can’t create a new account with the same user name and email address.

The user name that I tried to register is “uhoreg”, and the email address is hubert .at. uhoreg .dot. ca.

it seems your account has

it seems your account has been created, and accessed too. if you click on request new password, your .ca address will receive the reset email.

nope, no dice

I tried to request a new password. I still don’t get any email.

the mail is rejected due to a syntactically invalid EHLO

OK, it seems like the reset email is rejected by my server, because your server is sending a bogus “EHLO” line. The log line that I get is:

2008-04-25 21:18:21 rejected EHLO from h855119.serverkompetenz.net [85.214.40.129]: syntactically invalid argument(s): (none)

mail

i will reset your password to something random, and send it from my email account. please change it asap once you log in.

[update] email sent to your .ca address

it worked

Thanks. I can log in now.

I’m wondering what planet-soc is sending as its HELO/EHLO greeting. I have a fairly standard Exim 4 setup, so presumably planet-soc would have problems sending to other similar servers. I guess this also means that none of the email-related functionality from planet-soc will work for me.

Thanks for tracking that down...

A few people have (seemingly randomly) had problems receiving e-mail. I guess this is the reason.

I don’t own the server, but I’ll contact the admin to see if there’s anything that can be done.
