Mr. Viorel (won’t disclose the full name here) lives in Canada and is a friend of my parents. We was about to visit Romania, and asked if he could help me by phoning Lenovo Canada and ask whether they would send the customer replaceable unit to him, and he would bring it back to me when he would arrive in Romania.
I gave him the model, and serial number; he phoned, Lenovo Canada sent him the new palmrest in two days, he brought it to me, I replaced it, and voila! My ThinkPad is as good as new… unbelievable!
There’s better support in most countries for ThinkPads, except in Romania - where they simply can’t send you the piece for you to replace, because they’re “just a brand without commercial activity”.

Oh, the new palmrest came with a new touchpad and a new fingerprint reader (bundled).
